Visiting Lanikai Beach
This beach is my absolute favorite place on the island!
Lanikai Beach is actually one of the most popular beaches on Oahu. It’s kind of hidden from Mokulua Drive; you’ll want to turn down one of the side streets to park!
The word Lanikai translates into “heavenly ocean” and this beach captures those views perfectly. Between the warm sand between your toes and the calm, tranquil water, you’ll feel as though you are in heaven.
The entrance to Lanikai is hidden in between houses along the beach. There aren’t any signs leading to the beach, but, on some poles “Lanikai” is painted on. Luckily, there are many entrances to the beach, so if you drive past one while looking for a spot, there’ll be another one down the road!
As a heads up, there are no public bathrooms or showers located on Lanikai beach, so I recommend stopping at Kailua Beach Park before heading to Lanikai. It’s pretty easy to find a spot on the beach, up close or further away from the ocean.
There’s plenty of activities for you to do on the beach as well! Including kayaking to the Mokalua islands, which is incredibly fun by the way. I was lucky enough to do that, tipped the kayak over – so that was fun! Sometimes you can find people playing Frisbee or volleyball, and you’ll probably be able to join them!
If you’re lucky enough to have dogs, you can totally bring them here! It’s so fun watching them go in the water and play fetch, and just enjoy themselves like the humans get to!
